The Path Ahead

For first time in W&L’s history, students elected women to the top three positions on the Executive Committee. Elizabeth Mugo, '19, was elected president, Grace Smith, '20, will serve as vice president, and Gabriella Miggins, '19, will be secretary. Mugo is the first African-American female to lead the EC. She will assume her duties at the end of winter term's final exams in April.

It was a very big win for the black community on campus and for the students who don’t necessarily often feel represented. She won, but I feel like we all won with her. We all felt that together.
